On Friday, 11/28, at 11:46 AM several units were dispatched for a water rescue on the Patuxent River, in our first due area. At the Clyde Watson Park (off of Magruder's Ferry Rd.), a citizen noticed a boat in the river with no occupants and after a closer look they saw an arm waiving for help, so the citizen called 911. The river was at an unusually low tide, so crews from companies 36 and 56 (the County Volunteer Water Rescue Company) worked together to deploy Air Boat 56 and make contact with the victim. It was found that his boat was stuck in the mud and he was attempting to push it out by walking along the bottom of the river when he became stuck. The crew on board Air Boat 56 retrieved the victim from the water and delivered him to Ambulance 36 for evaluation. It is unknown how long the victim was outside of the boat, but he was about shoulder deep in the water and the tide was coming in fast. The victim was very lucky the citizen noticed something out of the ordinary and potentially saved their life. Good work by all of the crews in getting the victim to safety!
