By Assistant Chief Hedrick
September 20, 2015

at 1132 units were dispatched for a water rescue call on the Patuxent River. 2 kayaks were stuck and stranded in the marsh of the Patuxent. With strong currents and winds the Patuxent River can be dangerous to unfamiliar boaters. With an unknown exact location of the victims Baden separated their units to best locate the victims. Per PGFD communications dispatch location Engine 362, Ambulance 36, and Chief 36A responded to At Last Farm Road as Brush 36 went to Milltown Landing Road, and Chief 36 running as Battalion Chief 887 went to Magruders Ferry Road. After further information it was found the victims may be north of Magruders Ferry Road so this boat ramp became the location for Command Post and all units re positioned there. Air boat 56 arrived on scene and headed north on the Patuxent from Magruders Ferry Boat Ramp. Shortly after Air Boat 56 made contact with the victims and they were found unharmed but in need of help. With new information command placed all units in service except Air Boat 56 and Ambulance from 36 for check up.
